Momentum Reversal Engines is a multi-engine reversal detection system that scans for trend exhaustion across four distinct algorithmic models simultaneously. Each engine identifies unique candlestick momentum patterns at key swing points, while optional volume and fair value gap filters add layers of confluence to improve signal quality. When conditions align, clear Buy or Sell labels appear on the chart alongside projected support and resistance levels, giving you a visual edge in timing reversals. Momentum Reversal Engines scans for trend exhaustion using four independent algorithmic models that each detect a different candlestick momentum pattern. Engine 1 looks for a sequence of three or more trending candles followed by a two-candle reversal that closes back through the origin of the move. Engine 2 shortens the lookback to three trending candles and requires a single engulfing reversal candle that violates the starting range. Engine 3 triggers on a two-candle trending sequence broken by a reversal close, while Engine 4 captures the sharpest single-candle reversals where the body percentile rank exceeds the 90th percentile.
Each engine independently validates that the signal occurs at a local extreme by comparing the 5-bar high (or low) against the 10-bar high (or low), ensuring you are only seeing signals at genuine swing points rather than mid-range noise. Two optional filters layer on top: a volume filter that requires the signal candles to carry more cumulative volume than the preceding bars, and a Fair Value Gap filter that demands a gap structure exists in the reversal direction.
When all conditions align, the indicator prints a labeled Buy or Sell signal along with projected support and resistance lines drawn from the recent swing extreme and the signal candle close. Because each engine captures a different reversal signature, running multiple engines simultaneously broadens coverage without sacrificing specificity.

When multiple engines fire signals at the same time, the reversal conviction is highest. Single-engine signals are still valid but carry less weight.
The horizontal levels plotted with each signal serve as natural take-profit and stop-loss zones. Use them to structure your risk management.
Over time, you may find that certain engine combinations work best in specific markets. Document which engines produce the best results for your preferred instruments.
Each engine detects a different reversal candlestick pattern with a different lookback depth. Engine 1 requires five candles (three trending plus two reversing), Engine 2 uses four candles, Engine 3 uses three, and Engine 4 captures aggressive single-candle reversals. Higher-numbered engines fire more frequently but with slightly less structural confirmation.
You can, but many traders start with Engines 1 and 2 for higher-conviction signals and add Engines 3 and 4 once they are comfortable with the indicator. Running all four gives the broadest coverage but produces more signals, so pairing them with the volume and FVG filters is recommended.
The volume filter compares cumulative volume on the signal candles against the preceding bars, ensuring the reversal is backed by meaningful participation. The FVG filter checks for a fair value gap in the reversal direction, confirming that an institutional imbalance exists behind the move. Both filters reduce signal frequency but significantly improve quality.
The indicator works on all timeframes. For day trading, the 5-minute to 15-minute charts tend to produce the cleanest signals. For swing trading, the 1-hour and 4-hour charts filter out intraday noise. The volume filter becomes more reliable on timeframes where volume data is accurate, so keep that in mind for instruments with limited volume reporting.
